I found my first Colorado Virtual Geocache on May 10, 2003. In short order, I had this idea that I'd find them all. Then I saw Stone Pony and gave up. But in 2011, I managed to grab Stone Pony and was off to the races once again. Then Groundspeak messed everything up by re-instituting VCs. Ugh. So I modified my plan to get only pre-2006 Colorado virtuals. I was turned back on UTM twice for flooding and other trail closures. Then I moved away from Colorado (a mistake). I've hiked a thousand miles in this state, but somehow missed this trail. It's amazing. Thanks to Tahosa for keeping it going. Answers sent and approved. Vort.

From the web page for Round Mountain:
This temporary opening enables visitors to hike the trail for a few weeks - until the trail is closed again for another project from spring to summer. Closure dates coming soon. The trail head will be subject to additional closure pending the start of a pipeline reclamation project to remove the former hydropower plant supply line. Thank you.
So double check to see if the trail is open before you try for this cache or contact me and I will let you know the current status of the trail.

Greetings I'm Heartland Cacher, one of the volunteer reviewers for caches submitted to Geocaching.com.
We are doing a check of caches that have been disabled for an extended period. Please maintain this cache and post an appropriate note to the cache page.
As stated in the cache listing guidelines https://www.geocaching.com/play/guidelines#listingmaintenance Disable a cache page when the cache is not available or you need time to fix reported problems. A cache page can stay disabled for a reasonable amount of time - generally up to four weeks.
PLEASE NOTE:
Today's notice is a friendly reminder only. Do not reply to me directly. Rather, please go to "Log geocache" (upper right hand of the cache page) and choose "WRITE A NOTE" from the drop down menu. Please do not use the "OWNER MAINTENANCE" log until you do the maintenance and the cache is ready to be found again with a status update and any intention to revive the cache. Several reviewers participate in cache maintenance tasks so a log posted in this manner is the best way to get your message seen. Without a log posted you risk having the cache archived.
If you have disabled this cache for the winter or a season, please consider this a reminder to post a notice for when you expect the area to re-open. Re-activate the cache if the area is actually open again.
After you have checked on it and it's ready for seeking again, great! You can re-enable the cache page http://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=235 by clicking the link under the cache name or by checking the box that says the cache is active. If, however, you discover that the cache is missing and/or you decide not to replace it, then please remove any remaining pieces of it and archive it. This will open up the area for other geocachers to hide their own geocaches. You may also need to digitally relocate any trackable items still listed here. If a "Needs Maintenance" log was posted, you will also need to log an "Owner Maintenance" log to clear the "Needs Maintenance" icon from the geocache page. http://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=404
I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and I am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the future. If the cache is not maintained or the status is not updated, it will be archived. Thank you for understanding.
If this sounds like an automated email template, that's because it is. I apologize for that but the volume of messages we get is such that templates like this make the process much more efficient. Thanks for your understanding.
I look forward to hearing from you. Do not reply to this email. It is sent by a no-reply mailbot so I won't get it. To respond, please do NOT send me an e-mail or a message center conversation as they lack needed functionality for reviewing. Leave a new "Reviewer Note" log here on your cache page. If you're not familiar with this process, see the instructions https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=97&pgid=74. I have your cache on my watchlist, and I will receive a notification when you write your note.
"If a geocache is archived by a reviewer or staff for lack of maintenance *it will not be unarchived."*
Additionally, please note that if I've not heard from you in 4 weeks, I may be forced to archive this cache. Don't let your cache get archived for non-communication

The Round Mountain trail head will be CLOSED January 4 - February 16, 2019.
The Round Mountain trail head closure is due to a forest mitigation project under the direction of the Big Thompson River Coalition to help reduce fuel sources in the event of a wildfire. The trail head will be subject to additional closure pending the start of a pipeline reclamation project to remove the former hydropower plant supply line. Thank you.

Well that was a hike and a half. Made it up as far as the knob to pick up Gray Diamond Ghost Trail, and collected the answers to this one along the way. E-mail with descriptions is on its way.

#31433 This was one of the toughest hikes I've done since I started caching.. Today was cloudy and cool for July and my goal was to find Golden Dozen and UTM - Up The Mountain. I was successful at both and a few traditonals. TFTV

Found today while hiking on the trail. Nice way to stay busy and be able to stop to catch my breath every now and then! Thanks for another nice virtual. Cheers!

I was on the Mountain with Icezebra11 and we had a wonderful day despite the stormy weather. I'm going to have to come back and do this virtual cache as well as the Images mystery with my grandkids as they would love them as well as the excellent trail. Plus, then I would get to see the views that were impossible in today's weather! Anyway thanks to Tahosa and Sons for more creative caching experiences! I've sent Joe my answers. TFTH!!

Went up the canyon to the Let's go for a Hike 14 event. Hoping the weather was not too bad to hike the mountain and get the Chef's special and other caches on the way. It ended up being just fine. A little slippery in spots but not bad at all. Was a really great virtual to find and the views were amazing. I am looking forward to coming back up to find the Chef's final which we could not find in the snow, and to do more caches that lead through this trail. But I do hope the weather will be a bit warmer next time. Thank you very very much for an awesome virtual and adventure.

Thanks for the cool virtual.
If more virtuals were like this they probably would not have gone away. Yesterday, several of us went on a hike as a result of the Let's Go for A Hike 14 event. We had a great time and spent over seven hours roaming around Round Mountain gather info for and visiting stages of a few caches. This one was a high priority on our list. We made all the stops and gathered all of the info (already emailed) and at the end of the day got our smiley.
Hiking and geocaching - not many better combinations out there.

Went for my first hike up Round Mountain. What a gorgeous place and to see it for the first time with snow was a bit magical. We were able to gather some caches along the way working on multiple caches at a time. This one we were able to complete though Chef's special final is still alluding us. My legs were burning last night and I almost can't wait for the next hike up this mountain to complete more. I will say if it wasn't for these caches I would never have hiked this mountain. Thanks

Thanks, Tahosa and Sons! I went up the mountain with a group, and we stopped at all the waypoints to get the information. The email has been sent. I try to always send a picture of me near the virtual cache, and virtual caches always get a favorite point from me. It has been quite a while since I have geocached in Loveland. We have lived in Laredo, Texas for the past 20 years, and just last month we moved permanently to Arvada. It was cold here today, though it was 93 degrees in Laredo. Though spring may come late to Colorado, summer comes early to South Texas. We have visited here often for the past several years to visit our daughter and her two sons. I hope to come to several events and geocache several times in this area in the coming months and years.

A group of us went up Round Mt today doing this virtual and looking for Chef's Special. Despite spending over 7 hours on the mountain, we were ultimately unable to secure a meal, but we did complete this one. I'll send the answers along shortly after I recover in the hot tub. Thanks for a fun hike; I've not been that far up this particular trail yet (although obviously I'll be back once the snow melts).
