*****This cache has been replaced due to reported leaks in the container. As of 7/18/2015 it is back up and in a new white plastic bucket ****

This should be a fun cache to find for either a family or individuals wanting a challenge. The approach you choose makes all the difference in the difficulty of the hike. Please secure the lid tightly when you leave as water infiltration has been a problem (due to the lid not being secured).
I placed this cache with Whitney, my eight year old Daughter Lindsay and our two dogs Charlie and Addie. It took us under 2 hours out and back moving at a very leisurely pace (stopping for a long lunch). It should be interesting to see the route that people choose to reach this cache. It can be either a moderately difficult climb (3.5-4) or an easy, but longer walk.
Original: We included in our cache some Microsoft software, a Joan Collins book, "Kill the Man" VHS tape, sun glasses, a swiss army knife (knockoff), frisbee, new baseball hat, bag of kids surprises, new flashlight, a Robert Parker book on tape and a bar of gold :)

Updated cache: It has a hand crank powered radio, a camping stove and lantern, a neck warmer, a snorkel, and a couple of children's books.

An interesting note, from this location if you continue south you can access 7 falls from the top.

 Hints

You can easily reach the cache via a small trail off of Gold Camp road. Follow Gold Camp to the Mt Cutler Ridge (corner of Gold camp)Take the trail on the ridge east toward Mt Cutler to the lowest saddle. The cache is on the south side of the saddle in some small pine trees about 40' south of the trail. The cache can also be reached from the Mt Cutler trail. This is more difficult, but if you are in shape it is worth the effort - my favorite route by far. FYI the cache is at Elevation of 7550.

**The very shortest way to reach the cache is by accessing a trail off of the North Cheyenne paved road located at 38*47.394N 104*53.634W and go directly south to the cache. This is a steep climb, but still the easiest way and much faster than any other approach. You can park at the "21" sign on the road for this route. There is a log bridge to cross the creek if you walk downstream a short way.

Well I headed down here for a second day in a row with the intent on getting this cache. Yesterday we headed down to the springs to grab this one but it started pouring. Turned around and grabbed a different cache. Today we tried again all looked good but it did start to sprinkle when we got there but I was not going to let it detour me. We parked at 21 and started up the hill. I think we took the wrong way but it was rather eventful in any case. It was a nice scramble up the mountain. Once we got to the cache the trail was apparent and was the far easier way down. I got it out with Wisewarrior and Littlehawk. TFTC

Left the North Cheyenne Canyon parking lot at sunrise this morning with 2 goals: summit Mt. Rosa before the weather rolled in and pick up a few specific higher-altitude caches (including this one) for a challenge I've been working on. Skipped a bunch of caches along the way due to previously posted DNFs, which freed up quite a bit of time to explore elsewhere - after summitting, I dropped south to Pike's Cave and then down to FR 381 (recon'd it back to where the trail crosses it - it's in great shape!), detoured to St. Mary's Falls, and even finally got to Four Paws. What a GREAT hike! I had been putting this one off due to trail reports talking about bullets whizzing overhead(!!) but those must have been from the Frosty Park approach - today's hike was quiet and felt totally safe.

On the way down, I was so close to Four Paws that I couldn't resist going for it - it has been on my list for far too long! I had heard others talk about how steep it was to get to this one, so I had assumed that it involved some scree slopes or scrambling - not ideal after the long hike I'd already been on today, but when something is 0.2 miles away, you do what you have to do, right? Imagine my delight when I looked at the topo and noticed that not only was it downhill, but there was a trail that went right to it!! My fitbit clocked me in at 20.15 miles by the time the rain encouraged me to go back to the car. Thanks for maintaining this oldie!

Yama Gypsy texted me last night and asked if I was interested in a hike to Mt Muscoco to get a few caches that she targeted. We met at 8 this morning at the Mt Cutler trailhead parking. This was our fourth stop on our hike, and an add on because it is a sweet oldie and had been on my list to get for a couple years. Yama Gypsy hiked along, cause why not. Unfortunately, it was downhill most of the way. Spotted the cache in its sweet hiding place, signed and returned to its spot. My first time on this section of the trail and wow that was some work to get back to the Mt Muscoco trail to get back to the car. Thanks for placing this cache for us to find today. Favorite point for keeping this oldie in great shape.

MPLC

Our English is not perfect, we use Google Translate to help us ...

Our journey began last August 22 and will take us to visit twelve US states and two Canadian provinces ... Our departure was from Baie-Comeau, a city on the North Shore of Quebec and then continue for a few days in Quebec City where we did some Geocaching .... Then we stopped at St-Eustache and Ville de Laval, still in Quebec, and then flew to Portland, Oregon... We made stop in Umatilla on August 28 still in Oregon, August 29 in Boise, Idaho, August 30 in Twin Falls and August 31st we are in Salt Lake City for two days... The 2nd of september we were in Rock Springs. Wyoming and the september 3 the road brought us to Laramie, Wyoming... Today will be our second and final day in the Colorado Springs area

Throughout the trip we have targeted some caches that will help us achieve our personal goals and we will certainly discover new places that Geocachers here will want us to discover ... We have been planning this trip for several months and know we will not be able to not all see for lack of time ... There are many caches but we must close our eyes can not find them all ... But it is with pleasure that we will put our signature on some of them ...

Thank you for creating these caches that add smiles to our profile and make us have a good time regardless of the mood of Mother Nature ... Our log will be the same for the whole day and if there is a particularity we will add it at the beginning of the text ... Favorites will be added here and there for all the work done ... TFTC

Thanks for the fun cache! The critters and I came up to have some fun today and had 4 paws as a goal. We parked at Helen Hunts falls and made our way up to the road. Steep, but short. Then a nice walk along the road where the kids picked a TON of raspberries! With red stained fingers and faces we made our way down the trail toward this cache and grabbed a cache along the way. Stamped the log and replaced as found. All is well here! After completing our hike the kiddos also earned another Jr. Ranger Badge for North Cheyenne Canyon! How cool! Then we had lunch and played in the creek for a few hours! Great Day!

Wow, what an adventure!! Out here visiting Penhead63 and Weatherman64 from California, we were all extremely excited to attempt this old cache!! We decided to take the long way and thoroughly enjoyed the long trek!! When we got to where we had to start our descent, our excitement doubled!! Since it had just rained, everything was wet, which actually made our way a little easier because we had more traction, instead of slipping on the dry needles. When we got to gz, I was the last one to spot the cache... my sunglasses were fogging up because of the hard work getting down there, which made it hard to see! Well, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!!!!! It was so fun signing the logbook and seeing all of the posts from previous finders!! We took pictures and enjoyed the scenery and then began our ascent to the road. By this time we were obviously tired so the hike seemed lots harder but we did make it back up!! By the time that we got back to the car we were pretty wiped out but so pumped that we had tackled this awesome cache!! It took us just about 2 hours from start to finish and our ages are 56, 54, 54 and 16. Thanks for hiding and maintaining this grand old cache!! Gets a fav point from me! IHN!

I did do the cache the very shortest way as suggested, and it was hard work and a little bit slippy in places with crumbly dry soil / gravel. Nice to find one of these early caches, it certainly is a whopper, went along and found a few more caches up here before walking back along the road.

Ladditude, YamaGypsy, and I decided that today was the day to make the trek to Four Paws. I took 1/2 day of vacation and we met at the trailhead to take the longer but less steep route. This was a tough hike for me but we made it! I’m so happy to find another Colorado oldie. Thanks for placing this cache for us to find. TFTC.

With all the hiking and caching I've done the past 7 years I don't know how I've managed to not get this one. Today I met up with the bionic bunnies ladditude and chihuahuajill to finally sign this cache. Great hike! Tftc!

A great day today with Chihuahua Jill and Yama Gypsy doing a 4 ½ mile hike to find several caches with the main goal, this old cache, Four Paws. It was so great to get this old one found and logged! We were glad to avoid the thunderstorm that made its way across the area right before we arrived. All was well... had a great time! Thanks for placing this cache.... SL

Butt is dragging a little, ok, actually the leg a little. Since I’d visited Daniels Pass decided to test the path a little and see if it played. Fortunately on the path I didn’t run into any two pawed until I was ready to leave, have to think that’s the advantage of the season. The cache is in great shape and given the age that’s great! Really appreciate the placement and maintenance!
