This is a very easy cache in Greenland Ranch Open Space. From the official TH you can take either the lower leg of the loop or start out on the 2 track along the tracks. There is no reason to go cross country. Dogs must be on a leash. BYOP
The Denver and Rio Grande railroad tracks followed the old territorial road from north of Castle Rock to Palmer Lake and later on to Colorado City. The Greenland Trail system travels a portion of the original road. In 1899, with the efforts of Senator Ammons of Douglas County, a bill appropriating $5000 for a bicycle path from Littleton to Palmer Lake and eventually to Colorado Springs and Pueblo was passed. This path would follow this territorial road as it transverses to Palmer Lake. There are restrooms & a very large picnic shelter at the trailhead along with plenty of room for trailer parking. Please visit the Related Web Page link for information and a picture of the Territorial Road as it is today.

Nicely done. Signed log.

Thanks Back Country Horsemen for giving me a reason to get outside. It’s always worth it when you are enjoying nature. There is nothing better than acting like a kid again, digging through weeds and climbing trees, all to sign my name on a piece of paper.

Found with Cachly for IOS.

Container has been replaced & baggie added so hopefully the log will stay dry a few more years. Please replace container so only camo is exposed.
