The Colombian grebe was an aquatic bird native to the Bogota wetlands in Colombia. The population of these subspecies of grebe was largely hit by loss of habitat and predation. Wetland drainage, siltation and reed harvest led to destruction of Colombian grebe habitat to a great extent. More importantly, predation by rainbow trouts and hunting by humans curbed the growth of grebe population in this area, with only 300 individuals surviving by 1968. The Colombian grebe population further declined drastically with only a few sightings reported in 1970s, with the last sighting being reported in 1977.

Its been a long hot summer in Texas, I've been trying to get out and do a caching trip a couple of times this summer, but it never worked out. Finally managed to get a week off, and am so happy to be out here in Colorado. The weather if perfect, and there is a load of caches that need my name on Smile Thanks so much for the hide poolsharkycat, I really enjoyed finiding this cache!

Enjoying another day traversing the countryside, acquiring many miles and boosting cache numbers and others in between along the power trails!
Nothing better than caching along the back country roads of America! Thanks for placing these out here. Most were in good shape in these sections however i did replaced wet logs and broken containers as needed. Initialed logs

Finally someone came by while I was out here. I was a little surprised by the steep hill, with the soft ground it was easier to go down than up. Saw a couple yellow bellied birds flying around the area. TFTC - #1722

I had a much needed geocaching adventure today. I drove over from Denver to Goodland (KS) last night. Got up this morning and continued east to Mingo. Wound up caching my way there and then back towards Denver, ending with a power trail-ish run between Limon and Deer Trail. Got to see lots of sunflowers and even some antelope along the way. Cachly was acting funny, I'm pretty sure it wasn't bringing up all the caches, but oh well. Wound up caching until the sun went down. Now for all those logs…
