A peaceful spot along the Apex trail
Cache is located in Apex Park, the site of a the once busy town of Apex. The park is situated on Apex Gulch near the confluence with Lena Gulch. Native Americans valued this strategic location as a camp site while hunting buffalo, deer and elk. Apex Gulch was also the path of the Apex and Gregory Wagon Road and was one of the early routes to the gold fields of Central City. The park is now popular with both mountain bikers and hikers.

Access the trails at the lower end of the Heritage Square parking lot N 39.42.963 W 105.12.581. Follow the main Apex trail approximately 1.3 miles to the cache site. Trail is well marked dirt trail that can get muddy, icy or snowpacked depending on conditions. Eleveation gain is mild to moderate with overall about 400 feet change in elevation. Be sure to bring plenty of water.

Cache is in a small clearing between the trail and the brook. It is a green decon container hidden under a pair of rocks. It is not intended to be a difficult hide as the area is sensitive. Just cover it up enough to hide from the occasional muggle. Original contents included a log, pencil, American Flag key chain, Habitat for Humanity pin, Wyoming magnet, Buy American pin, and, of course, a whistle. Keep trading items small.

Enjoy the waterfalls and the babling brook!

NOTE: Replaced the decon with a larger pill bottle painted black.
