2:01 PM We are here from Dallas for our typical August vacation in Divide in order to skip the Texas heat for a couple of weeks.
Today we headed to Spruce Mountain and Meadow Open Space. We last hiked the mountain 10 years ago for the conclusion of a classic sparrowPI multicache. This time it's the Classic Movie series that is bringing us to the area. (About 12 miles of hiking today.)
Hiked past the final resting place and made the grab.
I signed the log. Thanks, sparrowPI, for the cache.

The presence of a grave marker just off the trail was intriguing. A little internet research revealed the following from the Palmer Lake Historical Society: This was the Palmer Lake town cemetery (Greenmont) from 1889 to the 1920s, when most of the burials were re-interred in Monument. Several graves remain in this area, most notably the Kipps monument. The only specific info about Ed is that he was a leather merchant.
The cache container was out in the open so I left it tucked away. Thanks for marking an interesting location.

We were planning to hike and cache in Greenland Open Space this morning and noticed that the final for this cache would be nearby. Easy climb up Kipp's Trail to get it. Signed log. Thanks for the cache!

Another great sparrowPI cache! I decided to hike up the hill today after work. It was a bit warm, but the steady breeze really helped. I found the cache quickly signed and stamped the log. I returned everything as found. All is well here! Being spring all the flowers are blooming, grass is green, and the sky is blue! Couldn't have asked for a better hike! 4.26 miles round trip in 1hr 16 minutes. Not any speed record but not bad for an aging fellow who enjoys the many Colorado brews!
Thanks for creating this one and taking me to another great spot!

Kids and I enjoyed a hike today. The rain came in just as we were leaving and gave us a beautiful rainbow. I always wondered why there wasn't a cache at this location. Now I know! Sl, thanks

I drove over 30 miles to get here and there was rain, thunder and lightning when I arrived. The decision had to be made to: stay safe and cut my losses, or risk it and do what I came to do - find caches. Well, as you can tell, I chose to cache. And I made it home safely since I am logging them all now :) I was targeting MULTI caches and OLD caches, plus any traditional bonus caches that were nearby. I ended up finding 12 caches, three of them multis and a few from 2003!
Great hike and cache, minus the impending doom lol. Picked up the travelers to move along, thanks!

I was in Monument today with a little bit of time to kill, so I decided to try this cache. I had passed it over many times in the past without ever really putting it on my target list. It was nice to finally come after it today and cross it off my geo-bucket list. I've passed by the general area of the GZ before, so navigation wasn't much of a issue. I was also lucky that the coordinates were quite good for me, it literally placed the container at my feet. Wow, I haven't had that happen in a LONG time. Container and contents were in great shape, so I dropped off two TBs I have been carrying around for a few months; about 7,500 miles worth on one and 8,000 on the other. While writing this log, I noticed this is a 2004 cache. A great bonus, a nice oldie to help out with multiple challenges I'm working on. Thanks to the CO for the very nice cache and site selection; especially for doing such a good job keeping this old one alive. TFTC!

Tried to find this one at least a dozen times
Turns out that every single time my gps has been showing me the wrong place
