As a child growing up in the 70’s and 80’s, books had a larger impact on me than television.  One of the first books to open my eyes to adventure and creativity was Where the Sidewalk Ends.  This cache is in honor of Shel Silverstein, who passed away 20 years ago, on May 10, 1999.

“Sheldon Allan "Shel" Silverstein was an American writer known for his cartoons, songs, and children's books. He styled himself as Uncle Shelby in some works. His books have been translated into more than 30 languages and have sold more than 20 million copies.”¹

Please only unscrew the bottom of the container to remove the log. Do no remove the container from the host.

I too read a lot of books in the summer as a child. I belonged to a book club & it seems to me I got at least one a week. The title sounds familiar but I don’t think I’ve read any of his books.
Strange but just as I started looking for this a black pick up started to make a U turn right next to me. I thought maybe he was a cacher but then he straightened his truck out & continued on. Always something weird happening!

Nice tribute cache to Shel Silverstein. Glad it was a quick find as the dog in the nearby backyard clearly thought we were a threat.
