At 13.09 acres, Sinton Pond Open Space provides Colorado Springs residents and visitors with a unique opportunity to experience an urban aquatic habitat.  This park site is the only piece of open space remaining in an area full of dense commercial and office park development. Sinton Pond hosts ducks, geese, mule deer, song birds, hawks, and falcons.  Other notable information about the pond is that springs feed the artificial body of water. Like so many other special places around Colorado Springs, Sinton Pond is an area of archaeological significance.  Flash flooding along South Douglas Creek in 1994 exposed the remains of a Native American site.  Other prehistoric artifacts have been found by professional archaeologists, as well.

BYOP. You can enter the Sinton Trail from Goose Gossage Park, which is preferred so you can enjoy the urban refuge. Can also access from Sinton Rd, with parking nearby.  Watch for snakes and cactii in the area.

We cached our way to the Colorado Springs area with several goals in mind. First there were three events that we wanted to attend during the weekend. We also wanted to work on our Planetary Pursuit points to earn the 10 souvenirs that are available. Next we wanted to get the new gorgeous GCCO coin, and finally we are working towards our 40,000 find BigSmile. Nice short walk to GZ, Nice hide, SL

We replaced numerous caches that had numerous DNF's along with log and or containers that needed maintenance. There was also a nano container that we had to replace because we dropped the bottom of container and could not find it.

Thank you Imyy4u2 for placing this cache for our enjoyment.
