Anthony's Cache

We hid our first geocache to celebrate our wedding in 2011.  This geocache celebrates the birth of our baby boy, Anthony.  Like the namesake, this cache was born high in the Rocky Mountains.

Enjoy the trail!

Start on trail 707 (Stanley Canyon Trail) accessible from the AF Academy. It's roughly a 2 mile hike along some decent terrain. It's a terrific hike and there are other caches along the way. It's very close to the Stanley Resevoir. During certain times of the year, the trail "ices over" approximately 1/2 mile from the cache at the waypoint we describe. It's a traditional size pelican cache.  It contains the "Baby Boy" travel bug and micro Geocoin for FTF.

Congrats to ernie66 on FTF!

Coords may be a little soft since the GPS bounces a good bit in the canyon. Clues and pics will get you very close if you are struggling. I used the Magellan explorist, but check the other entries and let me know if I'm off. Good luck!

Took a bit of searching as the GPS had me off by about 50ft. Onward to the reservoir and beyond.

Fun hike today with fearthefish, Back Country Horsemen and KJKlock. The weather couldn’t have been better for us today. Thanks for maintaining this one for us to enjoy.

Found GC4CZPD - Anthony's Cache, on November 1, 2017 using Cachly for iOS.

Some may call me seriously mentally ill. Some may state that I am in a state of mind that prevents social interaction. Some may say I am in a state of mind that prevents normal perception and or behavior. I prefer to say that I tend to do the same thing over and over again, but I expect different results. That being said, I believe we only live one life and I am trying to make the best of it. I thank you, mmariotti for placing a fun geocache to fuel my "insanity" or addiction as I call it. I appreciate you bringing me here so that I can sign my alias on a piece of paper that you have hidden.

I look forward to finding more of your geocaches. I also look forward to potentially finding geocaches with you one day and sharing stories of our insanity... I mean hobby or addiction? Cheers!

I think after today I am going to change my geo-name to TheHikingCaboose. I am convinced that the only reason why PayMeCache, Back Country Horsemen, and KJKlock brought me along is because they knew who was lunch if we came across a hungry bear.

But I digress.

The Ice Slide is very aptly named, and was a challenge in both directions. Fortunately we could navigate one side of it without becoming one with the ice and water. As for the cache, this was the only one today that I actually found first and did the signing for us. I celebrated accordingly. Thanks for the fun hide and for your contribution to a great day of caching and hiking.

Our third stop in Stanley Canyon and here the trail finally gets much gentler. We made it past the ice slide area with no ice, but there was ice in the creek so had to be very careful & take it slow. I couldn't imagine getting past that rock wall if there had been ice, let alone back down!

Nice stash! Thanks for placing it. I took a nice Friday evening hike and left a little travel bug for the next lucky soul.
