Turn the Page

About 15 years ago I started to use sequential images as waypoints to locate the cache. As time progressed I finally went crazy and started to use maps so I turned the page. Eventually these maps required the use of a compass and bearings, and special mapping tools and this was another page on my caching journeys.

Tis time to utilize your TOPO maps and map tools. I'll even give you a clue to get you started.
Talk to Pelecaniformes and use the UTM coordinates that are posted on the cache page, make this your first waypoint.

Then find the other five images and mark them also. Once you have your map set up you must plot the location of these images on a map.
And use following bearings that are derived from each specific images to locate the cache.

1. 177.73°
2. 220.51°
3. 237.58°
4. 277.02°
5. 345.12°
6. Ø84.2°

 Hints

There will be a total of 36 bearing lines on your map. But you will only need at least three of them. And they will triangulate your where your cache is located. Dead Tree!!

Found with Cache U and HelloKitty. After finding the 6 waypoints, Cache U mapped out where the final should be, and we stopped there after visiting my parents. Found it just before a torrential storm hit. Saw lightning hit a transformer on the drive home, sending up a shower of sparks very close to our car, so all in all a very exciting cache! Thanks for the fun!

Did this one with Sam_I_AM and HelloKitty over a few days. Did a few of the waypoints online, drove to the others, and then did the necessary mapping at home. Thus we used a combination of analog and digital methods to solve this mystery cache. This cache was a lot of fun, and we hope other cachers will tackle it.
We always enjoy doing Tahosa and Sons caches, and always seem to log 3rd place behind the usual suspects!
Thanks for setting up this nicely done cache; fav point for sure!

As Denali41 related in his log, I saw this publication yesterday morning while driving west to our meet-up location for our hike. Well, some required chores this morning and an incorrect assumption cost me a FTF on this cache. My incorrect assumption was that I didn't need to hurry because Denali41 would most certainly have duties to attend to around his farm today. Ha, was I wrong!

After taking care of the morning's required business I set about looking for the photo locations. There were several of them that looked very familiar because I drive in the general area quite often. It didn't take me too long to locate all six of them and then I plotted a number of bearings before I too saw a pattern. With a set of coordinates in hand, I headed to GZ.

When I got to GZ it was a quick find but when I opened the cache I saw Denali41's signature! Rats!! Thought for sure he wouldn't beat me to it but boy was I wrong. He signed the log almost 3 hours before I did. I didn't get FTF but I actually did get the real prize, another Found It on a fine Tahosa and Sons cache!! Thanks T&S for another fun adventure!!!

(Well crud, went to award a Fave but I don't have any available. I'll add it when I can.)

This cache deserves and gets a Favorite Point! It's another great Tahosa adventure, indeed. Yesterday I was in NW Larimer County hiking up a couple of mountains with icezebra11 and a couple of other friends, maintaining strict physical distancing. icezebra11 mentioned when we were on top of the second mountain that a Tahosa and Sons cache had been published earlier in the day; he had received notice of it on his phone while he was driving to meet up with our hiking group at Sand Creek Pass. I was anxious, when I returned home, to look at the puzzle details, but alas had no time to review it--other than to take a quick peek last evening--because of some priorities. So I studied the cache description and images this morning and got excited. I knew approximate locations for a couple of the images, but they needed to have field confirmation to nail down precise coordinate details. Also, I needed to track down the other image locations and felt good when I had completed obtaining the needed coordinates. The mapping work took some careful attention: lots and lots (and lots) of bearing lines can be plotted, given the nature of the information! I was relieved during my plotting of bearing lines to note a pattern that emerged, allowing me to lift the intersection coordinates from my mapping and enter them into my old Map60CSx GPSr. From that point, it was an easy drive to the location of the cache container, where it was a quick find.

Years and years ago I "cut my teeth" on certain navigational/mapping techniques by careful study and learning (often by trial and error!) of mapping skills on caches that had been placed by Tahosa and Sons. I recall with clarity some of my "eureka" moments as I discovered and perfected the necessary skills that I still use today. This cache gave me a contemporary "test" on certain of these skills, and it was fun to pass the test with high honors. Thanks for this great cache, Joe. I'm pleased to have earned the {FTF} on it! And I'm pleased at the inspiration you have provided me through the years by your fine geocaches and friendship.
