This is a cache I have wanted to hide for over a year. In December (06), I became committed to hiding it. This cache memorializes some of the areas best while teaching a little bit of history. Took me some time to find the right spot, but after a hike three weeks ago, the spot was settled.

This cache is on the way to the “Top” of St. Mary’s falls. If you have not done this hike, it is well worth the effort and there are a number of caches along the way. Round trip I measured 7.5 miles. The most difficult part is probably the last mile as you approach the cache. However, you have some spectacular views and very near the falls to make up for the work.

The cache is not particularly well hidden. It is under a rock ledge with a rock blocking from view. No need to hang out over any "high" ledges to get this one as it is in the center of fairly stable ground. Cache container is a larger ammo box.

Expect to do some bouldering as you approach the cache. For this reason, I have ranked this a 4 on terrain, but could change depending on comments. Be careful on this part of the search. My eight year old was with me and made it with little trouble, but we took it slow. I would use caution before bringing any children on this one.

There are some trade items in this cache. Also, there is a camera for you to take pictures. I will retrieve camera near the end of this summer and develop. Finally, there is a Geocoin I picked up two weeks ago.

This was a real challenge. My GPS took me on the wrong side of the mountain. I should have followed OR85OR450 & Weizen the direction they went. Didn't know Weizen had found this one already so I had to back track around to get to the only spot short legged 5'6" me could make it up the boulders. Wasn't the hardest one I had ever climbed to but I think it's in the top 5. Would not have found it without the other cachers actually finding it.

Great to get to meet 3 more cachers as four of us made our way on up after the DGS St MArys Falls event. This one is still in excellent shape; I believe another pic is now on the camera !!

Had I remembered I was here in 2008 I would have done it anyway!

A very moving tribute. I have been looking at getting this one for years and today was the day. I wish I'd picked another day because the wind was gusting and I was freezing, but it was worth it. Nice placement for a fitting tribute. Thank you.

Last cache of the day. The original plan was to leave the kids to eat their lunch where we turn and start bushwhacking then afterwards continue up the trail to St Mary's falls. However after doing another cache earlier straight up a scree slope my legs barely got me to this cache and my arms were aching from the scramble over the boulders. Apparently my gps was tired too, just as I got to gz it said low battery and shut down. Thankfully I was still able to find the cache but after getting back to the kids we decided to just call it a day. Awesome views and quite an adventure to sign this one! Tftc!
