Colorado Star

The Colorado Star GeoArt is part of a nationwide project to build stars in all 50 states - Stars Across America.

The Colorado Star has 50 caches along with a Challenge Cache for a total of 51 caches.

Caches #01 - #50 each have a different Colorado Fun Fact to entertain you between caches. Be sure to read them and learn more about Colorado! The Challenge Cache has Colorado statehood history. You might also find the Colorado Fun Facts useful for the Challenge Cache.

All the star caches (#01 - #50) are letterbox hybrids at the posted coordinates and contain a stamp.
Please leave the stamp in the cache.
Bring your own inkpad and notebook.

Visit the Pawnee National Grasslands to experience the abundant wildlife including unique high plains bird species, spring wildflowers, and the peaceful serenity of the Colorado prairie.

Plan on 3 – 5 hours to complete the Colorado Star series (51 caches). You must hike the series on foot approximately 7.5 miles total.

Please dress appropriately and make sure you have plenty of water and snacks.

Cell coverage is weak at best, your results may vary.

Parking for the Colorado Star is available near the posted coordinates for Colorado Star #01 (this cache).
Parking for the Challenge Cache is separate.

Colorado Fun Fact:
Colorado is home to 54 14,000-foot mountain peaks, more than any other state in the United States. The United States has a total of 91 "fourteeners" (mountain peaks over 14,000 feet).

Letterbox Hybrid Directions:
Letterbox is at the listed coordinates.

Stars Across America:
The goal is to have 50 stars – one honoring each state. To find the other states proudly displaying stars, see the Stars Across America cache list.

We planned a trip up to do these yesterday when the forecast was for cooler tempertures. On the way up we ran into dark cloud that started raining hard. Pulled over under a tree in Nunn and watched it come down. We got hailed on. We went back home because the weather looked the it was going to do this all day long.

We came up today it's a lot nice but a lot hotter. We had a good time. Some of us more than the other. I really thought i would be hauled out on a gurney. Thanks for placing this cool Star for us to find all the pieces. Only got half the star down but theres always tomorrow or shall we say in the Fall.

My son and I were heading down to DIA to pick up the rest of the family as they were returning from a school trip to Greece. Since we had the day to get to the airport we decided to take on the Colorado Star caches. We found the first half of the star before we had to head on down the road. We saw several pronghorn antelope as we made our finds. Tftc.
