The City of Colorado Springs obtained some large parcels of land south of Daniels Pass as part of a land swap in 2017. This area is now part of North Cheyenne Caņon Park. Several miles of new trails were constructed and are now open for use.
Those who have lived in the area for a while might remember the old Daniels Pass trail, an unmarked, steep, dangerous trail with no stream crossing. As part of the trail project, this trail has been completely rerouted. While it is substantially longer, the added switchbacks and bridge make for a more enjoyable hike or bike ride. The Bruin Trail now provides the closest access, approximately 2.6 miles round trip. A trail map is available here.
You will find the cache at an overlook rest stop along the Middle Sweetwater Trail. Since this area is now part of a Colorado Springs city park, new caches are restricted to micros on or immediately adjacent to an established trail.
