The City of Colorado Springs obtained some large parcels of land south of Daniels Pass as part of a land swap in 2017.  This area is now part of North Cheyenne Caņon Park.  Several miles of new trails were constructed and are now open for use.

Those who have lived in the area for a while might remember the old Daniels Pass trail, an unmarked, steep, dangerous trail with no stream crossing.  As part of the trail project, this trail has been completely rerouted.  While it is substantially longer, the added switchbacks and bridge make for a more enjoyable hike or bike ride.  The Bruin Trail now provides the closest access, approximately 2.6 miles round trip.  A trail map is available here.

You will find the cache at an overlook rest stop along the Middle Sweetwater Trail.  Since this area is now part of a Colorado Springs city park, new caches are restricted to micros on or immediately adjacent to an established trail.

Congratulations to hartsdale - First to Find!

It's great to have some new trails to explore in the area. Kerewin0430 and I had a nice hike this morning. We saw many more mountain bikers than hikers. Most of them were courteous but one nearly ran us over. Be on the lookout especially on the weekends. TFTC

Out for a leisurely hike on this beautiful morning with WingsAndTales. Cool spot with great views. Lots of bikers sharing this nice trail! Thanks for placing this cache and giving us the opportunity to see this new trail!

I came up here today to get the nearby oldie. But I couldn't pass up the chance to re-acquire my double jasmer while I was here. I grabbed the virtual coin to move along.
I was worried when I couldn't find the cache in the really miniature trees. So I took at a look at a couple of the other trees nearby and finally spotted it.

Thank you ernie66 for placing and maintaining this cache for me to find and log. June 25, 2022 4:22 PM

Hiked up Daniel's pass trail from Cheyenne canyon to the Greenwood settlement (highly recommended). Pen gave out signing the log. The cache is in good shape with good coordinates. Wonderful view from the cache. TFTC!

We were surprised to see quite a few hikers and bikers on the trail today. Glad that we took plenty of water with us. We found the container without problems. Left a bit of swag and traded both trackables for different ones. Tftc and for today's smiley.
