Crested Butte Trailhead Series
Welcome to the Crested Butte Trailhead series of caches. There are wonderful hiking and mountain biking trails here in the Gunnison Valley. For our hikers and bikers alike, I designed this series for cachers to log some finds before hitting the trails. The caches are near the trailheads, so no hiking or biking required. However, that does not make them park and grabs.
Lower Loop
This is a wonderful scenic trail along the Slate River with views of snow capped mountains and wild flowers. It connects from the town of Crested Butte to the Oh-Be- Joyful wilderness area. It is fairly level and traverses several different types of terrain. It passes through a reclaimed mine site. An alternative return that is more hilly is the Upper Lower Loop Trail.
Head out towards "The Gronk" and keep going on the two lane dirt road. The cache is placed before you are on the trail and limited parking is nearby.
UPDATE: This is the 3rd container I have placed here, new container contains log, pencil/sharpener, toy Soldier, bracelet, Army lanyard, new child's toothbrush-still in wrapper, and pink Calloway golf ball. Do not take pencil/sharpener.
Please re-hide the caches exactly how you found it so others may enjoy the same experience you did. With that in mind, no spoiler pictures or hints in your logs.
