Scenic view  Significant hike  Cliff / falling rocks  Long Hike (+10km)

This is a great challenging cache and I placed it because I thought more challenging caches needed to be created. It is located at about 14,050' so it'll take some planning to get to this one and at least general good health. Winter finds will be really rough. But, included with this cache is Mount Princeton - a beautiful 14er! You pass over the summit to get to the cache.
Park at the radio station at about 10,800' on the Mount Princeton Road (Chaffee County 322). There is a parking lot at the bottom (8,900') as the road is unpaved but most cars should have no problem getting up the road to the radio tower. Then take the standard east slopes route to the top of Princeton and enjoy the view! The cache is located on the NorthEast ridge about 0.18 miles from the summit. be careful - the whole top part of this mountain is talus, so you'll be jumping around on rocks that sometimes move.
If you don't have any experience climbing big mountains, please do some online research. Never start later than 6 or 7 in the morning and always pay attention to the clouds - if it starts looking bad, get out! The rule is off the summits by noon and off the ridges by early afternoon - there are usually daily lightning strikes at the tops of mountains in the afternoon, so this is no joke. Also bring lots of water - about 2 liters a person minimum and make sure you have a coat, pants, hat, and gloves regardless of the current weather - things can change fast.
This may all sound scary, but mountains are a serious place, and I don't want anyone to get hurt. If you park at the Radio Station, you should be at the summit in between 2.5 and 4.5 hours. The cache is only 10-15 minutes from there. Be careful and have fun! I may be biased, but this is the most beautiful cache I've yet seen!
When the cache was first started, there was some talus just above the cache spot that pointed up like some horns off the ridge. Over the winters, the stones have moved and there aren't really horns anymore, but it's still a pretty great spot. Maybe now I'll just say the title refers to mountain goats...

After summitting Princeton had to go for this since it's so close (a relative term at this elevation, I know!). Made the find and started the trek down as clouds started rolling in. TFTC!

Summit from the Horns Cache

Came down from the summit and found it using the hint! It's been almost 11 months since the last log. Beautiful day up here and thanks for giving me a good reason to get away from the crowds. I started early so avoided the masses on the way up , then angled down across the scree to sustain the solitude as long as possible since there was a whole train of folks going toward the summit on the ruta normal! IN - Olympic pin OUT - nothing TFTH!!

Came over Mt Princeton and then down to see the horns. I found the cache quickly, as the co-ords were right on. Enjoyed the nice isolated cache location. Thanks!

After summiting Mt. Princeton, we made our way down the rough ridge to this cache. Once at the cache site, we found the container after a short search. I got rid of a heavy TB I've been wanting to put in a remote cache. Great cache, spectacular view, and supreme isolation.

We actually lucked out on this hike. We decided to do Mt. Antero first, which put us on Princeton at around 11:30. The weather was holding, so we went for it. Talus…nothing but talus! For me, this was a challenging hike and my knees were definitely feeling it by the time we got back to the car. But your cache description is right - this is one incredible view.

Visiting from Va. Beach, VA. Climbed Mt. Princeton with some family. After doing that cache me and a friend (not a geocacher) walked down to the area. I let him try to find it and when he was looking I spotted it of course right away. I sat down and he looked for 10 minutes. Finally he asked where it was. I went to show him and I couldn't find it for 5 minutes! Ha, Ha. Finally I refound it. Nice hide and views. Thanks for the cache.
