Pteronarcophobia is an abnormal and persistent fear of flies often caused by a negative past experience. Sufferers from pteronarcophobia experience undue anxiety about encountering flies. This phobia can become quite irrational if left untreated.

The 715 trail doesn't have many geocaches on it. Which makes it a perfect spot for this phobia series. It's a moderate trail, very low traffic. It's really peaceful, and absolutely gorgeous. Happy hunting.

We took the hard way up but found a much easier way to come down. Of course now the storms have started.

Did not find, gps wasn’t real happy and with the setting sun, I couldn’t spend too much time looking but I’ll come back on a Saturday morning when the sunlight is good and I have more time,

1:47 PM We are here from Dallas for our typical August vacation in Divide in order to skip the Texas heat for a couple of weeks.

Today I am hiking/caching around Mt Herman with WingsAndTails.

My GPS was pointing 27 feet up the hill. W&T said she had 8 ft. She was right. After I came back down, my GPS also read 5 ft.

We signed the clean replacement log. Thanks, Ms.Stang, for the cache and maintenance.

I tried for a DNF on this one but had no luck. I finally got back to the area today and found it after a short search. I'm not sure why we didn't see it the first time but I know we were in the right area. Some days are just that way. TFTC

Whew! My GPS wanted me to work for this one. Amazing what 30' radius means in the mountains. The log book was jammed in place and perhaps damp, since it easily tore when I tried to extract it, so I took a photo.

Nice hiding place, so I had a little picnic among the flies (which were few and polite). The only time I've had non-biting flies "bug" me was once on a montane slope near Silver Jack that was covered in huckleberry shrubs and just erupted with flies that landed on uncovered skin in uncanny numbers, kinda like that scene from The Mummy where Imohtep vomits out the plague flies. The other time was entering an old cabin where the south facing window ledge had dead flies an inch deep! (queue Amityville Horror gif).

At the stream crossing below were dozens of tan moths trying to drown themselves. After convincing myself they were not spruce budworms, I rescued a few handfulls and straightened up a huge Bluebell that had drooped flowers into the pool, since bees were also getting trapped. A trout in the pool gave me a stinkeye, so I left the natural selection experiment alone.
