Part of the Family Fun Intro to Geocaching Series around Waneka Lake
Not Dead Yet! (Yes You Are!) Cache
This last hide in our intro to geocaching makes use of the natural environment as a container, a "container in a container" technique we learned from the area's sneakiest cacher, Alpenist. Though not quite an 'Evil Cache,' this one gives you the idea of how sneaky certain caches can be (and how rewarding it is to find them). You'll need to use your sense of touch as well as sight for this one. Look for areas of interest and then test them out with your hands. Wiggle a bit, twist a bit ... but not too hard.
Remove the cache carefully, camo and all. Pay CAREFUL attention to how the cache is oriented/placed in its spot and put it back exactly as you found it. After you sign the log, the easiest way to replace it is to roll it back up, place it in the cache lid, and then slide the lid into the container.
MUGGLE WARNING!
Muggles are people who are unaware of Geocaching (feel free to turn them into Geo Witches/Warlocks). Sadly, Muggles have been known to pillage/take/destroy caches either out of their lack of knowledge or other less than savory motivations. This cache is on an exceptionally busy muggle route, so be sure no one notices you removing the cache or replacing it. Be a bit stealthy ... like you're sneaking a cookie from the pantry while your parents are in the kitchen.
