Welcome to Mission Viejo Park.  A Small semi circle park in Aurora, Colorado.  There are several caches in this park. This is designed to be a beginner friendly Mystery cache. As will all parks, be careful of muggles!  Park hours are 8:00 am to 11:00 pm daily. When logging, please share the method you chose to find the final.

This cache was placed in anticipation of the Fall 2018 CITO in the same park. Begin your short journey at the posted coordinates.  Here are three different methods you can use to find the final.  One is intuitive, another is math based, and the last uses coordinate projection.  The container is located under cover in the corner of a fence, where the fence is a little tucked in.  The next person’s property fence sticks out. There is a rail fence in front of it.

The intuitive method.  This is also used sometimes in Letterbox caches.  It is not exact, but gives descriptive hints to guide you to the final.  Walk north on the sidewalk until you see a bridge. It is in the middle of the park on the park’s west side.  Turn left to go over the bridge. Just after the bridge, you will see that the path is paved to the left and a narrow dirt path follows a creekbed which travels east-west.  Follow the dirt path. About 450 feet down the path (traveling west), you will find the cache. It is located under cover in the corner of the fence, where the fence is a little tucked in.  The next person’s property fence sticks out. There is a rail fence in front of it.

Math.  With math, you will have exact coordinates.  Use the Stone Marker to decipher the final coordinates.

A= How far away Saturn is from the Sun
B= Number of Saturn’s rings

X= A - 114
Z=B * 6

Final: N39 38.X W104 48.0Z

Coordinate projection is a common method of determining a point starting at a known point.  This method uses the distance between the points and a “Bearing” (like a degree on a protractor with north at the top.  From the starting coordinates (N39 38.723 W104 47.918) travel 662 feet (as a bird flies) at a bearing of 298.5. These functions are easier with an actual GPS unit.  They can also be calculated using GeocachingToolbox.com.

Congratulations to the5Millers and Herndonrd for the FTF! 35/108

Greetings from California! Approve Solved from home before visiting Colorado, using the projection method. I have an app on my iPhone called iGCT Pro that makes it easy. Thanks for my POTD (puzzle of the day)! CoolCoolCool #1,253

Sadly, my cute container has blasted into outer space. It has been replaced by an extraordinarily pedestrian camo pill bottle.

Looked where the cords put it and also read the description which put it at the same place but no luck.

I did the coordinate projection with the geochecker success. No luck finding the cache at ground zero. Thanks for the fun puzzle. Will try again another day.

I made sure Sara took care of this one. She belted out the numbers and I plugged them in. Just as mentioned before, I’m surprised that there were no woofers along the way. Thank you for the mystery!

I think this is the first mystery I've solved on my own

Very nicely done. I used the intuitive method, which was close enough, what with the great description. As backup, I memorized the numbers from the slab, in case I had to resort to GPS use. Tftc.

I used the offset method to obtain the coords and the letterbox description to get to the dirt path. I was surprised that no canine screamers were out today. I really liked the container. Thank you for the cache.

One of the new caches that published during the CITO. Fun to find this as a group. This was a great field puzzle. We were with BackCountryHorseman and Jim and used the intuitive method which worked great.
