Had a nice visit to Colorado, and found a lot of caches

We found the nearby benchmark but when we got to our GZ, there was no container to be found. We expanded our search radius and searched all around the benchmark, but still found nothing. We noticed a film container top on the ground at GZ, but we don't know if that was part of the cache container. We'll keep an eye on the logs and come back if the cache is still there to be found.

It's A Small World recently got her driver's permit, so we spent the day driving out here in the plains so she could practice pulling off the shoulder periodically. Coincidentally there happened to be a cache every time she pulled over. Strange how that happens.
Thanks for the fun hide and for your contribution to a memorable driver's training course.

Finally some nice weather - warming up and the snow is melting. Time for some caching. Headed for the plains. We were a bit worried that the dirt roads might be muddy but had no problems. Only one DNF the whole day. Caches were in good condition except a couple cracked ones we replaced. Thanks to all the cache owners who placed and maintain these caches.
Glad to see the explanation for the stairs in a previous log.

Thanks, jeeperz1&2! I took advantage of finding the nearby benchmark. I ran a pocket query of the 1,000 caches I have not found yet on the plains to the north, south, and east of the airport with a 100 mile diameter. This Saturday morning I worked some of the roads in Elbert County. There are still lots of caches in this county that I have to find, so I will be back. The area is really beautiful, and I enjoyed finding strands of of pines along the way. We moved to Arvada permanently in March when I retired from my job in Laredo, Texas. I would love to geocache more, but I am still working part-time teaching two online courses at my old university.

Found it! Driven by here hundreds of times!! The stairs I've always been told were from the Peak View 1-room school house.....guessing the benchmark was placed after the school was torn down. Thanks for the cache!
