The t-test is a powerful tool. It is a statistical test that can be used to determine if two sets of data are significantly different from one another. That’s so important, because in order to make world-altering discoveries, you need to have confidence in the data being collected. In this puzzle, you will need to do some very basic statistical tests. The fastest route will be through a spreadsheet. I suggest google sheets, as other programs round the p-value. Good Luck!

Suppose a sample of students(n =20) were given a test before being taught Biology in Stan’s class.  These same students were given the same test after the unit. Stan wants to find out if his teaching leads to significant improvements in student knowledge/skills (i.e. test scores). We can use the results from our sample of students to draw conclusions about the impact of this unit in general.

Note: You should run a two tailed (2) paired T-test(1).

Had this one solved a while back, but we haven't cached in the Boulder / Louisville / Lafayette area for a while, so needed to pick a few up here.

Found using the recommended tool helped to provide the CO's expected precision/rounding/whatever, because the result geochecked right away.

Actual cache was a C&D and in good shape.

Quick solve and find, but a good reminder of what I learned last year for school. TFTC. Forgot a pen but I have a picture of the cache if needed for proof of find.

FTF at 2:45pm. Thanks for the fun puzzle cache! The deviation is missing a number - should read 8.3D60786B

I was at work checking my email and even though I don't usually check out puzzle caches right away, I clicked on this one. I had to laugh... this is what I do for a living. So I pulled up MiniTab and made a few clicks, hmmmm. I can't get enough digits to solve the puzzle. I've never used a Google sheet for this kind of stuff (MiniTab makes such pretty graphs to put in presentations), but I figured it out pretty quickly. There's missing digit in the standard deviation, but I used the digit after the 6 and it was all good. I had back to back to back to back meetings that went until 3:00. So this will have to wait... fast forward to 3:00 and I still saw Cachly's FTF banner, so I hopped in the car and headed to Boulder. Pulled up the cache as I was getting off the highway and got a little excited because the banner was still there. Hopped out of the car and made my way to GZ, unrolled the log and... oh, man! I missed the FTF by about an hour and 5 minutes. Oh well, that's the way it goes sometimes. Thanks for the puzzle! Find #2861.
