THIS IS A FIELD PUZZLE!
A brother to the Standing Dead cache just to the North, this cache is similar but different. A stately old cottonwood tree once stood on this spot and suffered the ravages of time. Instead of giving up though it persisted by producing a new leader on the South side of the old tree trunk. Be careful as there is an old (1800's) fence line running North South between the cache and the rail road. The fence was made of barbed wire hence the thorn designation in the attributes section.
This cache has some personal significance for me as I recently had a reverse total shoulder joint replacement and I re-injured it while placing it. Much like this old tree I am attempting to rejuvinate.
Please be considerate and rehide the cache in an appropriate manner. Depending on the weather and how wet the immediate area is you may need a TOTT to open the cache as some of the materials tend to swell and make things a little tight. You do not need a screw driver.
Congratulations to Chihuahuas-3 (C3) and Golden B's on their FTF.
Addendum: It turned out that the acromion process, of the shoulder I just had replaced, fractured while placing this cache and another surgery followed. This time with an ORIF (Open Reduction & Internal Fixatioin) of the top of the shoulder blade. Today (2/2/21) was the first day I was able to ride my bike since then and what a beautiful day too. 64+ deg in the middle of the winter.
Be Safe and Be Happy
PS; During a routine maintenance check on this cache I found that someone had left it exposed. Please be considerate and re hide the cache with appropriate camouflage.
PSS: This cache is a field puzzel. If you can't figure out how to open it, to sign the log, you may not claim a find or add a smilie to you list.
