Hi - date is approximate since we had really sketchy internet service during our recent visit to the Colo Springs area & I'm late-logging.
I had two very nice days to visit down to Canyon City- interrupted by that mini-blizzard that rolled thru ! Found a lot of caches including some challenges, & a multi with a choice D/T combo for filling a space in an all-multi fizzy grid.
I was quite surprised to rumble way the dickens out here & unroll the log to see VinceMRowe's signature - One of my main caching mentors from the Dallas area - from just a couple years back. I had to message him that I just guess there isn't much chance I'll run across one, no matter how far afield, that hasn't got his sig !!

When I found the April month challenge last year I vowed never to drive up this road again, not friendly to a low clearance vehicle. So, since filling in my November last year I've been avoiding this one.
I decided that my plan would be to hike in from Grape Creek, and last Saturday seemed like the perfect day: cool and slightly overcast. The drive in was easy for the most part, only bottomed out once near the creek itself and there were still a few parking places.
I filled my backpack with a couple of water bottles, lots of swag and a rain poncho, just in case. Grabbed my hat, camera and trekking stick and off I went...of course by the time I got to the third switchback the sun came out and it got hot. The rest of the ordeal was sweaty and dusty and It was relief when I got to the cache site and found the container.
I signed the log, got the code for the year final and hiked back. By then I was too hot and thirsty (shoulda brought more water) to try for Korbyn's or the Temple Slide.
