I had the day off from work due to our offices being closed for Good Friday. We're not a religious organization, but we follow the stock market which is closed today. It's nice to be able to have an extra day with my family and reflect on the day that changed human history forever 2000 years ago.

I wasn't planning on getting this cache. In fact, until yesterday I had no idea it was over here! I had worked on solving it a while back but hadn't finished. I was looking to see what else was in the area of the trail filled with Traditionals. I really wanted the 3.5/4.5 cache over here. As I was reading the logs of this cache, I quickly realized that if I DIDN'T finish solving this I'd regret it.

I plugged in my answer and got a bad checker. I asked the FTFer if he still had the coords. He did. He didn't give me the answer, but did tell me where I went wrong. Part of what I had missed was because I had looked up the wrong state! Oops.... so much for my geography knowledge. Anyway, it wasn't too much more work to get a good checker. Although to get a good checker, I had to use a slightly different answer than what I had uncovered. Oh well!

On to the cache. I arrived at GZ and looked around. Nothing. Given the state of the trees I figured it couldn't be too hard to spot. Even still, it took some searching around before I spotted it. It's a decent sized container though so wasn't too hidden; but wouldn't be spotted by muggles.

While I enjoy climbing trees occasionally, it's not my forte. I usually leave that to my daughter who is really the expert. But it was just me and my geodog, Jack, this morning so I knew I had to go for it. I put Jack's leash around a small stump to keep him in place and with some exertion made it to the cache. As I was up there he started whimpering. I figured he was just uneasy with me being up there. But then he started barking. And just as I was about to sign the log, I saw a muggle with two dogs headed down the trail. No sooner had I spotted that then Jack broke off the stump and headed over to the other dogs to say hello.

So here I am in a tree that was a little tricky to get into, with my dog harassing (in a friendly way) two other dogs along the trail. I got down, and thankfully Jack was obedient and came back when I called him. Even more thankfully, the woman didn't ask what in the world I was doing up in a tree!

I secured Jack around a full-sized tree and maneuvered my way back up and replaced the cache as I found it. More adventure than I expected, but I really earned the DT on this one!

Thanks for the hide PayMeCache. I appreciate you keeping this cache active for everyone to enjoy.

I had the pleasure of being a guinea pig and beta testing both the puzzle and the cache for the beloved cache owner. The gratitude I possess for his willingness to include me in such an endeavor cannot be measured with today's technology.

I thoroughly enjoyed both the subject matter of the puzzle and the fiendish placement of the container. The brilliance and ingenuity of the cache owner continues to fill me with awe and wonder. I now understand how scientists in the 1940's felt when they were in the presence of Albert Einstein (including the appreciation of his facial hair). I eagerly await the day when I Google PayMeCache and learn about all of his accomplishments on his Wikipedia page. No matter when this happens, I know exactly which shirt he will be wearing when it does.
