Needs maintenance

Welcome to the Dragon series. These caches are the names of some common and rare dragons of myth. If you bring your binoculars you may see some of the current descendants of these great creatures. All of the containers have been looted of all valuables and will only contain a log book. Have fun and enjoy the trail.

The county road seems to be closed, but the "road closed" sign wasn't completely blocking off the road. So I drove by to pick this cache up. I want to come back for the Pawnee Grasslands power trail and I am a bit worried if this road will be back open and functional.
I found not one but two containers here, I put the smaller one in the larger container and consolidated the log sheets. That should help keep everything dry and in good shape for the upcoming winter weather.
I'm on a weekend road trip through Cheyenne and Nebraska, heading back home the long way through Sterling and Greeley, back to Denver. I was able to grab a few oldies for my Jasmer matrix, a webcam, and a GIFF event for obtaining nine different cache types in one day. It's been a very successful geo road trip! Thanks for creating this cache and the smiley!
Cheers, keep calm and cache on!

Working the area power trails to knock out the Mystical Creatures quest. Just one more souvenir to get! This is a cut and pace log that if anything other then a quick find shall be noted. Thank you for the series and the maintenance of these caches.
I saw both of the containers here. This is the last cache of the night I think I broke 200 finds in a single day! Got a 5/5, Virtual, and challenges in the mix. Great caching day!

Great day out in the grasslands on the border of Wyoming and Colorado.
Thanks to all CO's for hiding these trails and caches.
Most were found, but some were skipped because of traffic.
Most in good shape, some wet or damaged.
All in all a great day.
This was the last of 140 finds.
Found the replacement and the original!
Placed them next to each other.

Nearing cache #5,000 just before the GW-XVI Giga-Event, I'm determined to get my cache numbers closer to that goal, so EstesLynne & I headed out to the Pawnee Grasslands for this power trail of caches, which has also been on my list for several years. We picked the perfect spring day to be out on the plains - just gorgeous, with lots of meadow larks singing, painted buntings flitting about, and a few hawks soaring as well. Most of the caches were fairly easy, but several were falling apart, cracked or crumbling. we replaced as many of those as we could, just to keep the power trail going. Thanks to all those who put his trail of caches together & maintain them! Nice larger cache but the lid is cracked. Still good, though. This is cache #88 for the day, and glad to have finished the lower half of the Pawnee Grassland Power Trail - TFTC!

BugRanger and I headed out to Grover to try to get her numbers up for a coming milestone, and I wanted to complete my smiley string out here. There's a lot more truck traffic on this road than there was a few years ago when I did the trail north of Grover; there wasn't much fracking then. We also had to dodge some road graders around Keota. Still, for the most part it went smoothly and we hit our goal of 100+ caches.

We tried to replace broken caches, but although we easily replaced a dozen, most were in serious need of TLC and there are many more to go. IMO, the day of 35mm canisters is past--even ones that were obviously put out recently are cracked and leaking, some (judging from logs) after only one winter. The high plains is too tough and the plastic, especially the lightweight white ones, is too cheap.

We also ran into a few missing caches, which we replaced (with one exception), and a few duplicates. Oh well, that happens in this sort of power trail. For all we know, we put down a duplicate or two. We also signed (depending on log condition) either with our full handles, or sometimes just EL & BR. But we're in there (unlike one recent claimant--in my book, you have to sign at least some scribble to prove you were here).

Sorry about the cut and paste. I have a lot to say about this run, but I can't do 100+ regular logs. If there's anything particular about individual caches, I'll add it. Thanks to all for the contributions to our numbers and to a fun, lovely, warm, sunny, bird-filled (lark buntings! meadowlarks!) day on the high plains!
