This is where it all began.  In 1927 Nettie Moore’s homestead at the bottom of the hill on Utica Street was surrounded by open land and the Lakewood Gulch Creek.  Today, this Neighborhood Activist has a park named in her honor.  Please enjoy the park.  Please say “hello,” if you happen to see Nettie on the porch of the white house across the street.

I grew up on this block and remember when the park was a field.  We played in the park and nearby creek until our parents called us to come back home.  There might occasionally be harmless garter snakes around during the spring and summer.
