WONDERFUL that toshbar brought a replacement container, just-in-case! This is a really special cache, so it's great that it has continued life with the complete historical logging record.

21 miles from CO 318, another half mile cross-countrying on my dirtbike, and then a 300 foot near vertical ascent! WHEWWWWW.
The climb almost got me. I was wearing dirt bike boots that do NOT bend at the ankle, trying to slog my way up that dead dirt. It was still a little moist underneath from all the rain lately, so maybe every 3 stomps would I move up the hill a foot. I'm in good shape and 23 years old and still had to stop 3x on the way up. I climbed up from the western side. I went down on the east side, and I don't think either way is easier. About 1/3 the way up, I was 'greeted' by some ferocious birds swooping real close and shrieking bloody murder(no, it wasn't crows hahaha). When I reached the top, I quickly found the cache. The original container had shattered open because of the sun rays. There was still stuff inside, and the previous logs were legible. I came prepared with A NEW CONTAINER AND LOG!! I transferred everything over to my new peanut butter jar container, put another pen in, put a new log inside, and covered it up with rocks to try and protect it from the sun rays. I gathered everything from the old container and shoved it under the rocks too.
I had a great time finding this cache. I've ridden this area on my dirt bike for 2 years but just recently started caching. Thanks for the thrill.

probably one of the most remote caches in the world

I've completed more than 30 caches that have a 5-star Terrain rating, but this was certainly one of the most challenging of them! The challenge was partly because the territory is totally unfamiliar to me, so I needed to test access possibilities into this remote area and to figure out the best ways of moving through the terrain by foot. My DNF note from last August captures my feelings about my first serious attempt when I got within 3/4 of a mile of the cache and needed to turn back due to rapidly approaching foul weather. This time I came in from a different direction. I had mistakenly left my detailed mapping at home, so I needed to use my orienteering and back country skills to get to the cache location from my parking location more than 1.6 miles straight-line from the cache. I can attest that the actual 1-way hiking distance in rough terrain far exceeded that mileage! And on my driving approach I needed to cross what appeared to be a completely dry "creek" bed. As I started across, it became immediately obvious that what I had thought was solid, was actually a thin hardened crust over deep mud. Suddenly I was up to my hubs in thick soupy mud and was fortunate to maintain momentum and get the 4-wheel engaged soon enough to barely, barely get through. If I had been brought to a stop, I'd still be there! I came out by an alternate route!

From my approach direction, the tracks showing on my maps were sometimes miss-located or were absent. So as I got within a couple miles of the cache vicinity I was forced to do a lot of exploring to find ways to drive closer and how to avoid the most treacherous terrain. Finally I came to a point where the track was badly eroded out in a drain, and I was forced to stop and begin my foot work from that point. It was hot, the landscape was forbidding, and progress at first seemed slow until I became more confident in my route-finding in such terrain. Finally, the cache location loomed ahead. The structure it is on had been hidden by cliffs and other features throughout my hike. Hey, that's a pretty impressive spot where you've placed that cache!! The cache container and contents are in perfect condition. Everything overwintered very well. Thanks for this marvelous adventure. My puppy Teewinot gives her thanks, too. She loves these types of back country thrills!

Congratulations Voagteacher and DMAELECT on the first to find. More than a year after I placed it.
