I was kind of in the area, playing piano for a local church's Christmas Eve service. After I finished, I wanted to get a cache. I targeted this for the size and DT rating. At night, I thought it would be fun and not too challenging.

It took a few attempts at getting the right approach, and then I spotted it. However, as I was pulling out the log to sign, I heard a dog barking. At first I figured it was a dog at one of the houses. No way anyone else is on the trail, right? Well... wrong. I turned my flashlight off and saw the profile of someone walking their dog (in the dark) along the trail. I quickly signed and replaced the cache; while trying to keep my flashlight off.

Thankfully the dog walker kept going along the trail and the dog stopped barking. I didn't stay around, I kept the light off and headed straight back to my car. Thankfully, no actual encounter with the muggle, but I'm sure they were wondering what in the world someone was doing in the trees! Ah, the joys of night caching in urban areas...

I was out and about caching with herndonrd because I make him look good. He typically finds the caches while I look in all the wrong places. This was one of those typical occasions where I read off the description and/or prior logs and he simply ignores me and finds the cache. Hooray! After we did the whole sign and replace thing we celebrated our victory by heading back to the car and driving off to another one. Thanks for the fun hide and for getting me outside on such a beautiful day.

P. S. No animals (humans or otherwise) were harmed in the writing of this log.
