Just an ammo can in the woods.
Capicola, or coppa, is an Italian cold cut (salume). It is made from a piece of pork shoulder, dry-cured whole . The name coppa is Italian for nape, while capicola comes from capo—head and collo—neck of a pig. Capicola is often incorrectly referred to as a type of ham, probably because it is made from pork meat. However, the technical definition of ham is the thigh and buttocks of any animal (but typically a pig) slaughtered for meat.

What a glorious day for a “hike&run” north of my usual track. This cache was an added bonus. Of course now, after reading all those meat facts, I’m hungry for a sandwich of some sort! BigSmile Thanks for the fun!

My father was born in Reggio Calabria, and my favorite salami has always been Sopressata, but I also love Capicola. Great hike! Thank you for that.

WingsAndTales suggested putting a new dry log in a matchstick container, but it is still inside the ammo can. It's hard to understand how so much water is getting in. There was at least an inch in the bottom.

We were in the area today and made the trek up the hill for this one. I'm not sure how so much water keeps getting in the ammo can. It seems to be in a good protected spot. We dried it out as well as we could but the log was a soggy mess. We removed anything that was ruined by the water. There is now a replacement log inside a matchstick container. Hopefully that will keep the log dry even if water gets in the ammo can again. There is trail almost the whole way to the cache if you go to the saddle about 0.2 NE of the cache. TFTC
