Exciting Cache Series!!
"COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST"
The ColoradoSpirit Quest is a series of Caches placed by many
individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying
respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have 'walked' before
us.
There are
hundreds of cemeteries in the rural and mountain communities across
Colorado. This series will introduce you to many of
them.
The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the
cemeteries and tomb stones.
COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST is not affiliated with any other 'Spirit
Quest'group. Special thanks and credit are given to
SixDogTeam who started the Indiana Spirit Quest in 2004. The idea
has rapidly spread into many states.
The CSQ endeavor is an enormous and relentless task. It
cannot be accomplished by just one or two people. This
project will only flourish if there is a multitude of volunteer
cachers willing to place these caches.
After locating the cache container, take some time to reflect back
on the lives of those pioneers and the effort it took to make
Colorado such a great state.
By 1865 the biggest rush to the gold fields of Summit county was
over. Many of gold prospectors traveled down into the Tarryall
valley in search of a better life. Early Pioneers began to settle
in the upper Tarryall in 1865. Some found a little gold while
others made a living growing hay, oats, rye, barley, potatoes, etc.
Timothy & Adelia Borden were the first to homestead in the
upper valley ranching cattle and in 1867 His Brother Olney Borden
started up a water powered saw mill to supply lumber to all the
homesteaders that followed. During the summer months it was not
uncommon for ( peaceful ) Ute Indians to make there way along the
Tarryall river and stop by somebody's homestead for a bite to
eat.
If you are interested in joining the "Walking Through History Clan"
contact may be made by sending an e-mail to the owner of "Colorado
Spirit Quest #1 -
Mo
untainPassage". Use the 'Send Message" link at the center of
the page of their profile.
Each person that places a CSQ cache is responsible for its
maintenance.
REMEMBER:
Ifyou are APPREHENSIVE about cemeteries - AVOID this
series.

06/25/2019 By ( Zug ) / Shnelly12 Tftc!!! In town from Knoxville TN for some adventures. This was one if the many finds we grabbed in our route. All is well here.
06/22/2019 By Folboter JAF Took a two-and-a-half-week trip with my son (Folboter WBF) who had just graduated from high school. We went from Ohio through Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Calilfornia, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, and back to Ohio. We visited lots of great spots like Carlsbad Caverns, San Diego, LA, Sequoia National Park, Yosemite, and Pike's Peak. What a fantastic trip full of great memories!
And of course we did some geocaching along the way! We found caches in 82 new counties for us. We found five state's oldest caches (Tennessee, Texas, California, Nevada, and Colorado). We also visited seven webcams and found 22 virtuals, 19 earthcaches, various challenge caches, a few gadget caches, and lots of traditionals ... almost 200 total caches for the trip! Thanks to the cache owners for putting these great caches out there for us to enjoy on our trip!
Quick find for us today. Thanks for the hide!

06/08/2019 By Stephenjha Day 3 of caching road trip to Colorado with KCCG and M4ISU. Spending the day chasing old caches and a trip to Mt. Evans. Today is day 2633 of my daily streak. Thank you for placing this cache.
Kicking off the summer with a great American road trip to celebrate M4ISU’s belated birthday! After months of planning, I am finally on the road with Stephenjha as my copilot. I am logging as we go which makes it easier to keep track of the HUGE playlist we are hoping to accomplish. If all goes well, I’ll drive 2500+ miles, add 50+ new counties, see 5 different states, find some cool cemeteries, increase my Fizzy and Jasmer progress, find 20+ virtuals, a handful of Earthcaches, a Wherigo, and maybe a webcam or 2! It’s going to be a crazy weekend!
TFTC. SL. Thanks for placing this hide for my enjoyment, I really appreciate your effort! CACHE ON!!!

07/19/2018 By Rooski22 We’re in the area camping at the Cripple Creek KOA with my brother and his wife and spent today caching and sightseeing with them and the Geowinnies. We did our must do on the list first and that was Colorado’s oldest, Tarryall. Then we drove up to Fairplay and made a loop back to Cripple Creek and Victor getting a few caches along the way. It was a sunny day and we really enjoyed Colorado’s beautiful scenery.
Thanks RustyBeerCan for this cache, the smiley and for adding to our fun and adventurous day in Colorado. This was a nice old well kept cemetery. Thanks for bringing us to this spot!
