I started this one over five years ago and worked my way to the final this morning.
This one has not been found for sometime and it had that smell of long lost treasure when I got it open.
The container and everything inside is in great shape.
Thanks for getting me off the couch and in the fresh air!
Thanks for very fun but "tuff "multi to hunt down or maybe more up!

Nice work on the log book...
Placed and found before I started caching....

We both looked for ages in and around the old settlement to no avail. There was some snow on the ground but nothing that should've stopped us from finding the cache. The area is gorgeous, though, so we didn't stop with this cache. We went up the Crags trail to GC14JZV and then up to the top of The Spire (see attached photo) and then traversed over to Bacon and Eggs but didn't get to eat any. Pretty slippery on the snowy north slopes but we had to get Into Thin Air because The Mighty Gypsy solved it ages ago. Besides, we've already bagged Into Thinner Air and Into Thinnest Air so it was about time we made it to Thin Air.
If there's a chance we missed it, message us and let us know because we love that area and we're there all the time.
We went to the Crags then climbed up there. -->

Found the first stage but our path was in another direction. I'll be back again for the rest another time.

Found stage 1 as part of the DGS Climb/Cache event (hiking the Crags). It's in good shape. We'll have to go for the rest of this one at a later date.

Mike, just so you know, this is so on my list of caches to do the next time I am visiting the in-laws (which live nearby) and have a free day. But that might not be for a year or so (I live in Mass). Thanks so much for setting it up and checking on it. Looking forward to the adventure of searching for it and hopefully finding it. :)
Can't believe more locals don't hit this one.

When I woke up this morning, this 5-5 Multi was not even on my radar. Sure I knew it was an option, but I never assumed I would finish it in one shot, especially in late December. I just figured I would check off a few of the stops and come back in the spring or early summer to finish it up. I arrived at the new Crags T/H just about dark-:30, and away I went in the dark with my head lamp. You just got to love Colorado in the winter mornings, as the early bird get the entire trails to themselves, and most of the time, the entire day. In fact, I did not see another sole for the next 8-hours.
Well the first stop almost stopped me in my tracks. The little footprint of the former square cabin has been hit recently by a fallen tree. And I'm not talking about a little damage, as I am talking about a full grown tree that has fallen right down on the middle of the structure, and it seems like the tree took out the cabin with a direct hit... as in all of the walls are about blown out. If there was a roof, well it is gone. Well I suspected what I needed, well hoping is a better word, that just maybe, it still might be in there, so away I went in my belly, right on top of the fresh snow and new tree branches covering the ground. After a few minutes, bingo, there it was, and away I go to the next stop. (Be warned, there are a lot of logs with 5 to 7 inch nails sticking out of them, laying among the structure.)
The 2nd stop was pretty good, that is once I figured out how to cross the frozen creek. The current drainage has a creek that was in the shape of a frozen blob, just inching its way down the mountain, maybe one drop at a time. It is just awesome when one runs across a frozen creek, as the ice is just so raw and thick, as the sun can keep the top so slick from the various daily thaws and refreezes. I decided it would be safer to back climb 50 or 100 yards and then cross via the boulders, as my micro spikes were no match for this ice.
The 3rd and 4th stop was spot on. Again, I had no idea I would going for the final today, but I was loving life, so away I go. (A huge At-A-Boy goes out to "SuperDolph" for replacing the 4th stop, or I too would have been stopped in my tracks.) The last three stops, including the final were just awesome. I love hiking above tree line, and to be able to so in the winter, well this is just the tops. I found the final with no issues. I picked up the coin and T/B to bring them down the mountain, and I dropped a T/B, and I am sad to think, but maybe for the winter.
I loved this Multi-Cache. It has it all, great views of the Crags, which are now way down below, another intro to a wonderful option of climbing up the summit of Pikes Peak, and maybe this goes without being said, but one hell of a workout with a huge ammo can just awaiting at the end, as the reward. And the bonus part, I got to do it in the Winter, on December 18th. (I suspect I got lucky this December.) What more could a cacher ask for... Thanks Again!
