Today I went on an expedition to the Arvada/North Golden area to grab geocaches with @2lablovers . They are great to cache with and are usually willing to join me at Sonic for a half price shake after we are done. We took a walk along the western edge of Blunn Reservoir and to get the caches along the trail. On our way back, at dusk, we heard an owl in the distance. I looked up and saw something silhouetted in the top of a dead tree. As we closed in, we saw that it was indeed the owl. We watched him watching us for a while. Tried to take a pic, but he was too far away in the darkness. Next we headed over to Pattridge Open Space. Our day ended a little further south with a rattlesnake scare.
This is the one that made us give up for the night. We approached the GZ and it was already dark. I searched the GZ and found nothing. A quick review of previous logs suggested that the container might be west of the coords. I hurried along the large rocks and spotted the cache. Then, when George came up, he was standing on the rocks when he heard something directly below him. Let me tell you something... George can move QUICK! He hopped off and told me it was a rattlesnake. As I listened I heard that it was coming from where I had just been and where George was just standing. I looked with my flashlight, but couldn't see it. But definitely a rattlesnake. I hope future cachers are careful.
No problems with the cache. TFTC!

Caching with LostinDenver. It was all fun and games until we heard the snake's rattle !!! This was really a surprise to us as we thought you didn't have to worry about snakes at night! Happily no injuries and we did find the cache.
