Draw a couple of lines to find the cache.

Geocaching Colorado

While checking on another cache, I noticed that three nearby caches almost make a straight line. These cache coordinates are your starting point to find this cache.

1) Three nearby caches make a straight line, extend it north.

GC14JQW
GC2AWT0
GCXCV0

2) use the posted coordinates and draw a perpendicular line that crosses the line in (1).

3) find the cross point, then travel another 153 feet east to find the cache.

In January 2011 I found cameltrekor's great cache Zehn Grey. I enjoyed it very much, so quickly turned my attention to Mammoth Cross and solved it way back when... However, I never seemed to get near the cache location, and was always lamenting that this special cache was not receiving the attention from me that I knew it deserved. So when I invited icezebra11 and his puppy Angel to make the hike with me for my maintenance check on Add Winiger to Taste, I mentioned that the other chief objective of the day was to reach the solution coordinates of Mammoth Cross. He was enthusiastic, as, it turns out, were the three dogs!

So we parked and trudged slowly up the steep hill to the cache site. Yes, steep indeed! At least by the route we took. The find was a quick one. We sat on the top feeling gratified--and thankful to cameltrekor for this fun cache concept.

Denali41 and I had discussed getting out for a combination doggie hike and caching outing. So today he and I, plus his puppies Orizaba and Chimborazo and my puppy Angel, headed for the Rollinsville and Nederland area to do some hiking and caching.

This one was our second target of the day. Each of us had this one solved for many, many moons but it wasn't until last night that we traded our solutions. They were an exact match! So we were confident that with independent identical solutions and the provided hint, we'd be successful in locating the cache.

We parked where the distance on the GPS got the lowest and started up to the cache. Man is it steep! When we arrived at our GZ it only took a few seconds to spot the tree and the cache. We found it less than 20 feet from our coordinates. We opened the cache and added two more signatures to the very short list. The cache box is a little tough to open but the inside is completely dry.

Thanks cameltrekor for placing this cache, I really enjoyed working out the solution. The views of the IPW from the cache site are fantastic!!!

I DNFd this cache last week. It's so much easier with correct coordinates!
