COLORADO SPIRIT QUEST

Thompson Park Cemetery

  • The cemetery is located near Cherry Creek.
  • Thompson Park cemetery was established adjacent to the Evangelical Zion Lutheran Church at Dix, a siding on the Rio Grande Southern Railroad. The congregation disbanded in 1939 to merge with St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Durango. The church building was moved as a single piece to Mancos, where it was put to secular use. Today it houses the Head Start program.
  • There are 10-12 graves.
  • There is a monument between the road and the cemetery that

explains the history of the cemetery.

Here visiting Pagosa Springs from Colorado Springs. It is great to be able to find this cache and we are really enjoying the scenery. Thanks to kingbee for the cache.

We are staying in Pagosa Springs for a week at a timeshare with friends Dugeagle. Today we went geocaching between Pagosa and 4 corners and this was one we targetted and found. There is certainly a great selection of hides and some creative and difficult to find ones had us going. Thanks to kingbee for hiding this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area.

This morning I left DFW airport on a 24-hour quest to find geocaches in four new states. It has been a fantastic drive, and I have seen a lot of very interesting countryside. This one was a quick find. Thanks to the CO for La Plata County, Colorado. I left one of my Cumberland Island, Georgia, pathtags here.

On our way home from T-ride. Decided to spend the night in Durango so we had some time to kill. Didn't see a cemetery but we saw the sign...
