The name Cousin Jack is for Cornish miners that worked the gold mines of Colorado starting shortly after the gold rush. The Cornish miners came from Cornwall England where they had acquired great skills in mining tin and copper for centuries. When a Cornisher was told of a job opening in a mine he would say that “I have a cousin Jack who will come to work” and another Cornish miner would join the inflow of miners to Colorado.
Another skill that the Cousin Jacks brought with them from Cornwall is building dry rock walls using no mortar. Walls were used as fences in England to separate one field from another.
In Nevadaville one can look everywhere and see the remains of the Cornish dry rock walls. Each wall represents the location of a house or building once used by a resident and their family. When facing the wall where this cache is located look to the left or west – The simple frame house you see was built by our great grandfather, a Cousin Jack, in 1885 for his family

Headed up to the mountains today to escape some of the heat in the city. Great day to explore an area that we had not been to before.

Good condition.

Made a fast find today. I think I looked for this before without luck and had forgot to log a DNF. Thank you for the placement!

Headed up to Central City and Nevadaville for a few caches. I was surprised as I left the snow storm in Denver to discover no new snow up here. Cache is still there, in great shape. Tftc!
