In 1901 Edison Invented a new storage battery.

This battery, is made of iron and nickel and has an alkaline electrolyte.

The original had a capacity of 100 watt-hours.
It weighed 5 ¾ pounds and consisted of eight plates.

The below picture shows two sample grids, one empty and one filled with the briquets of active material.

This battery was the forerunner for modern day Alkalines.

Even the ones in your GPSr.
