PARK ONLY IN PARKING LOTS...DO NOT PARK ALONG THE ROADWAY OR IN FRONT OF LOCKED GATES

Considered one of the "crown jewels" in Colorado's extensive state park system, Cheyenne Mountain State Park is the result of strong partnerships and years of thoughtful planning. Acquired in June 2000 through a partnership between the City of Colorado Springs, Colorado State Parks, Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) and other local private organizations, the park represents the protection of one of the last significant open spaces along the southern section of the Colorado Front Range.

Cheyenne Mountain is the only state park in El Paso County, and will offer superior facilities and recreational opportunities. Foremost among the park's offerings will be the trail system consisting of 20 miles of hiking and biking trails. Along with great trails, the park will offer a Visitor Center with gift shop and interpretive displays, picnicking, and wildlife viewing.

Talon Trail is named for the many birds of prey found in the park. Be sure to watch for them soaring overhead as you hike to this cache.

Please stick to established trails. All the twists and turns of the trail system have been designed to get you safely through the terrain and to protect the wildlife habitat. There is nothing to be gained by trying to take a shortcut.

Cache container is ammo can with original contents of: logbook and pencil, puzzles, playing cards, toys, small first aid kit, necklaces, goofy pens, Cheyenne Mountain Park logo'd items, and more!

Found replacement cache-it is now small. My iPhone was reading 20'. Found another log in the end of the container. Signed it & moved it into the main part.

No joy here. Maybe missing? An ammo can isn’t usually too hard to find. Did an extensive search in the area with no smiley faces found.

This very pretty December day just could not be passed up. We paid our fee and jumped on the trails early in the cool morning and enjoyed all the hiking as the sun warmed us up. No DNFs today. Thanks to all the COs who have placed and maintained these caches. Exchanged travel bugs.
