Raptors (birds of prey)-Owls, eagles, falcons, and hawks along
this trail. Talon Trail was appropriately named as this trail leads
into raptor habitats. As you hike or bike this trail you will
notice different feeding grounds from the prairies and into the
wooden areas. The prairie dogs, rabbits, ground squirrels, etc.
support peregrine falcons, prairie falcons, golden eagles,
burrowing owls, ferruginous hawks, bald eagles (winter visitor).
Raptors that are supported by the wooded and cliff areas include:
federally protected Mexican spotted owls, kestrels, sharp shinned
hawks, and gyrfalcons (very rare winter visitor).
Cache is a two part multi with the first stage being a micro
that contains the info to lead you to the final stage - ammo can.
Final cache original contents include: logbook & pencil, mini
playing cards, Starbucks gift card, small first aid kit, CD holder,
carabiner light, puzzles, etc.
Please stick to established trails. All the twists and turns of
the trail system have been designed to get you safely through the
terrain and to protect the wildlife habitat. There is nothing to be
gained by trying to take a shortcut.
